Eap.Net

Eap.Net is a confidential online referral service for all Australian workers with the aim being to facilitate Medicare funded counselling to those suffering from mental health disorders. This service is free for employees to use and for appropriately qualified Psychologists and Social Workers to register. A nominal annual registration fee of $1100 is charged to employers to register and help administer the site. If no practitioner is available in your geographic area employees of registered employers are entitled to access up to 10 telephone counselling sessions per annum in total.

Mental Health problems that can be treated under the Better Access Initiative
Medicare rebates are available for psychological treatment by registered psychologists & social workers under the Australian Governments Better Access to Mental Health Initiative. Mental Disorder is a term used to describe a range of clinically diagnosable disorders that significantly impact on an individual’s thoughts, emotions, social skills and decision making. The Better Access Initiative covers individuals suffering with mental disorders arising from:

  3. Adjustment Disorders
  4. Attention Deficit Disorders
  5. Bereavement Disorders
  6. Bipolar Disorders
  7. Conduct Disorders
  8. Co-occurring Anxiety and Depression Disorders
  9. Depression Disorders
  10. Drug Use Disorders
  11. Eating Disorders
  12. Obsessive Compulsive Disorders
  13. Panic Disorders
  14. Phobic Disorders
  15. Posttraumatic Stress Disorders
  16. Psychotic Disorders
  17. Schizophrenia Disorders
  18. Sexual Disorders
  19. Sleep Disorders


No Costs
There are no out of pocket costs as our registered EAP Practitioners have all agreed to Bulk Bill referrals via this website in support of Australian workers. Please take along your referral from this website as well as your Mental Health Care Plan from your GP with you when you attend your first consultation with your EAP Practitioner. (An individual suffering from a Mental Health Disorder can see a psychologist up to 10 times per calendar year). Practitioners are based in all Australian capital cities.

How it Works

  1. Employer completes registration & is provided with a 12 month Access Code: REGISTRATION
  2. Employer provides employees with this website address & company’s Access Code
  3. Employee enters company’s Access Code followed by his name, postcode & email & relevant EAP practitioners are forwarded for the employee to select & contact for an appointment
  4. Employee then visits his General Practitioner to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan & brings this together with Eap.Net referral to the first consultation with the EAP practitioner
  5. Where no practitioner is available please contact us to arrange telephone counselling.
